Spotlight TV first launched as a fully-independent channel on Monday 25 January 2016, originally under the name Keep It Country TV. At the time, it filled a major niche in the broadcasting industry by catering for the growing popularity of country music.

Keep It Country was Europe’s first dedicated country music television channel, covering all types of country music from modern American artists to classic Irish country.

For years, it was evident that there was a growing demand for more country music on television, but for years the mainstream media outlets turned a blind eye.

The launch of the channel proved an instant success, with viewing figures soaring beyond the predictions and expectations of industry experts. It was perhaps something of an eye-opener for the mainstream channels, who swiftly moved to increase their country music content both in terms of television and radio output.

expanding the horizons

In 2019, in response to viewer demand to expand the channel’s portfolio to incorporate other genres of music, additional programming and brand new shows were introduced.  This expansion was accompanied by a change of name to Spotlight TV – reflecting the inclusion of additional genres.
