The nominations for this year’s ACM Awards have been announced – and it’s a history-making list.

The 56th ACM Awards ceremony is set to air live from the Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium and the Nashville Bluebird Cafe on Sunday 18 April 2021.  Yesterday, Kelsea Ballerini and Brothers Osborne announced some of the nominees on American network CBS.

Topping the list for the number of nominations are Maren Morris and Chris Stapleton with six each, while Miranda Lambert trails close behind with five.  Both Ashley McBryde and Thomas Rhett follow with four apiece.

Making history this year, no less than four black artists are nominated for awards, namely Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, Mickey Guyton and John Legend – a first time nominee.

Also, for the first time in history, every song nominated for ‘Single of the Year’ features a woman.

Notably absent from the list is Morgan Wallen, who as we reported earlier this month was kicked out following the release of a racial slur video obtained by TMZ.com
