Lady A have been announced as the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry.
Their entry into the country music institution was announced on Thursday evening and is effective immediately.
Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott were said to be “surprised” with their Opry invitation by friend and fellow artist Darius Rucker. The invitation was made during the recording of their performance for the upcoming NBC special “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music”.
Lady A – who began their career as Lady Antebellum and changed their name in 2020 because of the connection of the word “antebellum” to the pre-Civil War South – made their Grand Ole Opry debut on 2nd November 2007. The trio have sold more than 18 million albums.
