Country star Luke Combs is among the 100 most influential people in the world, according to Time magazine.
The CMA Male Vocalist of the Year has been named in the magazine’s annual ‘Time100 Next’ list, revealed on Wednesday, which identifies those “who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership.”
Those making the list come from the differing worlds of music, sport, public health, philanthropy and acting to name just a few, and Combs is the only country artist to make the list.
Writing the star’s profile for the publication, Garth Brooks said: “In this age of self-promotion, Luke Combs is letting everybody else do the talking for him. That’s big in country music, which is all about sincerity and humility… Luke has both of those in spades.”
He added: “He realizes [sic] that being a star is not up to him: the people will confirm it.”
Other names making the list include footballer Marcus Rashford, basketball player Luka Doncic, marine biologist Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, journalist Steve Kornacki, newly-elected U.S. State Senator Raphael Warnock, comedian Amber Ruffin, and – perhaps surprisingly to some – UK chancellor Rishi Sunak.
